The competition is divided into male and female divisions. Each division awards one Gold, one Silver and two Bronze prizes. Honorable Mention awards are also presented to exemplary contestants.

Tax note  Under U.S. tax regulations, if a prize winner is a foreign individual (nonresident alien or foreign entity), up to 30% of the prize is subject to tax withholding. Filing tax returns and obtaining any refund is the contestant’s own responsibility.

The competition has invited vocalists with Shen Yun Performing Arts to serve on its panel of judges.

Min Jiang — Soprano, juror
Min Jiang
Soprano
Min Jiang’s career began at 17, when she was selected to perform as a featured soloist with the Heilongjiang Province Arts Troupe. She received coaching in both Chinese folk singing and Western vocal technique from many accomplished teachers, and has served as an adjudicator for the NTD International Chinese Vocal Competition since its inception in 2007. Since joining Shen Yun Performing Arts in 2006 she has given over 1,000 performances on many of the world’s great stages.
Haolan Geng — Soprano, juror

Soprano
Known for her formidable and emotive voice, Haolan Geng won the gold medal at the First Music Competition of the Guangdong Arts Festival in 2007. A graduate of the Guangzhou Conservatory of Music, her 2008 graduation recital earned critical acclaim. She later starred with the Guangdong Opera Company, and gained international attention in 2009 on winning first prize at NTD Television’s International Chinese Vocal Competition. She has been a soprano with Shen Yun Performing Arts since 2009.
Songlin Shi — Tenor, juror

Tenor
A former soloist with the Vietnam National Opera & Ballet, where he performed lead roles including Jean Valjean in Les Misérables. He holds a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance from the Vietnam National Academy of Music. In 2022 he joined Shen Yun Performing Arts as a solo vocalist, studying under Shen Yun’s Artistic Director and mastering a long-lost bel canto technique. He combines exceptional vocal artistry with profound stage presence, and was awarded the Gold Prize at the 10th NTD International Chinese Vocal Competition in 2025.
Tian Li — Soprano, juror
Tian Li
Soprano
Tian Li began studying voice at seven before attending China’s Shenyang Conservatory of Music, where she completed both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She has won awards at many vocal competitions and gave solo recitals in 2012, 2014 and 2015. After auditioning into Shen Yun Performing Arts in 2016 she furthered her study of voice with the company’s Artistic Director.
Gao Liang — Tenor, juror
Gao Liang
Tenor
Gao Liang earned his master’s degree in vocal performance at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music in Moscow. He is the winner of multiple international singing competitions in Europe and specialises in German, French and Russian art song. Before joining Shen Yun he starred as Don Ottavio in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Rodolfo in Puccini’s La bohème and Nemorino in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, among many principal roles.

Beyond the prize money

  1. Winners’ concert  All prize winners have the opportunity to perform at the Winners’ Concert and Awards Ceremony held at a prestigious music hall in New York.
  2. Media interviews  Prize winners receive interview opportunities with NTD Television and The Epoch Times, sharing their artistic philosophy with audiences in multiple languages.
  3. Attendance required  All prize winners must attend the awards ceremony in person to receive their award. Awards cannot be collected by proxy; absence is treated as forfeiting the award.
